Starting with usage in November 2024, the numbers of hosts and metrics will each be calculated as a basis for billing (see here for details on how usage fees through October 2024 will be calculated).

*A different calculation method may be utilized if you use the service through a special contract or Mackerel partner.

• Minimum usage fees
  • If you use billable Mackerel features such as posting metrics or external URL monitors, and your usage fees are less than the fee for 1 standard host, your charges will be rounded up to 1,982 JPY (tax excluded; 2,180 JPY tax included), the fee for 1 standard host
    • If you do not use billable features in that month, no charges will be incurred
• Metrics
  • These are the basis for calculation. A metric contains multiple data points
  • 1 metric denotes 60 × 24 × number of days in that month data points
  • There is a cost of 10 JPY (tax excluded) per metric
  • Examples of posting to data points and numbers of metrics are given below.
    • If there is posting at 1-minute granularity for 1 month from the beginning to the end of the month, it is 1 metric
    • If there is posting at 1-minute granularity for half a month, it is 0.5 metrics. The total, rounded up number is the number of billable metrics
• Host metrics
  • The cost of 1 standard host includes 200 metrics associated with that host
  • The cost of 1 micro host includes 30 metrics associated with that host
  • There is a cost of 1,982 JPY (tax excluded; 2,180 JPY tax included) per standard host and ¥600 (tax excluded; 660 JPY tax included) per micro host
  • For both standard hosts and micro hosts, metric costs will be incurred for metrics that exceed the limit
  • The number of host metrics for a host is determined by the following formula:
    • Number of system metrics + number of custom metrics + number of check monitors
• Service metrics and labeled metrics
  • Service metrics are treated as metrics not associated with a host, and incur costs
  • Labeled metrics are also treated as metrics not associated with a host, and incur costs
• External URL monitors
  • Converted to standard hosts by the following formula:
    • Rounded up value of (number of external URL monitors used - 20) ÷ 20
    • Value is 0 (no standard host conversion) if number of external URL monitors used is less than 20
  • If associated with a service, service metric costs are incurred separately
• Anomaly detection for roles
  • Every 5 hosts included in a role subject to anomaly detection for roles are counted as 1 standard host. The calculation is as follows:
    • Rounded up value of number of hosts subject to anomaly detection ÷ 5
  • If the same host belongs to multiple roles subject to anomaly detection for roles, it is counted separately in each as a host subject to anomaly detection for roles
  • Calculations are conducted based on the number of hosts computed according to a monthly average

Monitoring rule items and custom dashboards are not billable, but please note the following limitations.

• They cannot be created in excess of your plan's upper limit
• If you would like to create monitoring rules above the upper limit, please apply for a loosening of the upper limit here

The number of metrics associated with a host under the Standard plan is 200 for a standard host and 30 for a micro host.

Examples based on usage patterns are given below (all amounts exclude taxes).

You are using 2 standard hosts, 2 micro hosts, 10 service metrics, and 10 external URL monitors. Standard host B has an excess of 50 metrics, and micro host B has an excess of 20 metrics. The charges are calculated as follows.

• Standard hosts:  1,982 JPY × 2
• Micro hosts: 600 JPY × 2
• Metrics: 10 JPY × 80
  • 50 excess standard host B + 20 excess micro host B + 10 service metrics = 80

You are using 3 standard hosts, 4 micro hosts, 100 service metrics, 200 labeled metrics, and 50 external URL monitors. Standard host C has an excess of 50 metrics, and micro host D has an excess of 20 metrics. The charges are calculated as follows.

• Standard hosts: 1,982 JPY × 5
  • Actual standard hosts × 3
  • (50 external URL monitors used - 20) ÷ 20 = 1.5, round up
• Micro hosts: 600 JPY × 4
• Metrics: 10 JPY × 370
  • 50 excess standard host C + 20 excess micro host D + 100 service metrics + 200 labeled metrics = 370

You are only using external URL monitoring with 50 monitors. The charges are calculated as follows.

• Standard hosts: 1,982 JPY × 2
  • (50 external URL monitors used - 20) ÷ 20 = 1.5, round up

You are using 3 standard hosts, 100 service metrics, 200 labeled metrics, and 10 external URL monitors. Standard host C has an excess of 50 metrics. The charges are calculated as follows.

• Standard hosts: 1,982 JPY × 3
• Metrics: 10 JPY × 350
  • 50 excess standard host C + 100 service metrics + 200 labeled metrics = 350

You are using 4 micro hosts, 100 service metrics, 200 labeled metrics, and 10 external URL monitors. Micro host D has an excess of 20 metrics. The charges are calculated as follows.

• Micro hosts: 600 JPY × 4
• Metrics: 10 JPY × 320
  • 20 excess micro host D + 100 service metrics + 200 labeled metrics = 320

You are only using labeled metrics with 200 metrics. The charges are calculated as follows.

• Metrics: 10 JPY × 200
